We are aware of phishing scams pretending to be Flybuys in order to steal personal or financial information, including your Flybuys login details. If you receive a message that looks suspicious, please report it at scamwatch.gov.au and notify our Service Centre via the Flybuys Help Centre.
What is Phishing?
Phishing is an online scam where criminals impersonate trusted brands, such as Flybuys, to steal personal information. These scams can appear in emails, SMS, instant messaging, or social media and often direct you to a fake website designed to capture your confidential details.
How Do Phishing Scams Work?
Fraudsters may send messages that:
- Claim to be from Flybuys or another trusted source.
- Ask you to click a link or download an attachment.
- Direct you to a fake website where you’re asked to enter your Flybuys details.
Once scammers obtain your sign in details, they can access your account and redeem your points.
Unfortunately, points redeemed through these scams cannot be reinstated.
How to Spot a Phishing Attempt
- Check the sender’s email address. Official Flybuys emails only come from addresses ending in @flybuys.com.au
- Look for urgent or threatening language: Scammers often try to create a sense of urgency. Be cautious if a message seems too good to be true or uses pressure tactics - such as threats or demands - to make you take immediate action.
- Avoid clicking suspicious links: If in doubt, go directly to flybuys.com.au or use the Flybuys app.
- Flybuys will never ask for your password or personal details via email or SMS.
