Why are the Flybuys Terms and Conditions changing?
We review our Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) from time to time to keep them accurate, fair, and clear. This update makes changes to section 5.4, which sets out when Flybuys may suspend or terminate a membership and the kind of behaviour expected from members.
What are the key changes in the updated Terms and Conditions?
Currently under clause 5.4 of the T&Cs, Flybuys may take suspension or termination action in respect a member’s account. You can visit the T&Cs to see the current wording in clause 5.4.
The changes will update clause 5.4 of the Flybuys T&Cs as outlined below. From 31 March 2026, the T&Cs will set out that:
Flybuys may suspend or terminate a membership immediately if:
- There is member behaviour that is abusive, offensive, threatening, harassing, intimidating, disrespectful, or otherwise creates a hostile environment for Flybuys or our Partner’s staff.
- There is a reasonable suspicion of fraudulent activity in connection with an account.
- There is a reasonable suspicion that a member has breached clause 2.6 of the T&Cs (membership must not be used for or in connection with any unlawful or illicit purposes).
- A member breaches the T&Cs and it can’t be fixed, or the member doesn’t fix the breach within 14 days’ of written notice.
Flybuys will provide a member with a written warning if they:
- Provide misleading information or make any misrepresentation to Flybuys or our Partners in connection with Flybuys; or
- Abuse or misuse the Flybuys program or any benefits provided as a Flybuys member.
If the behaviour continues after a written warning is provided, Flybuys may suspend or terminate the Flybuys membership.
Can Flybuys currently suspend or terminate my membership without warning?
Yes. Please refer to the current T&Cs for guidance on when Flybuys may currently terminate your account without warning.
In these situations, Flybuys will notify you by email using the most recent contact details on your account.
In what situations will I receive a written warning first?
From 31 March 2026, Flybuys will issue a written warning by email if you:
- Deliberately provide misleading information or make a misrepresentation to Flybuys or any of our Partners.
- Abuse or misuse the Flybuys program, or any benefits provided to members.
If the behaviour continues after a written warning, Flybuys may suspend or terminate your membership.
How will Flybuys contact me if there is an issue with my membership?
Flybuys will notify you in writing by email using the most recent email address linked to your Flybuys account. Keeping your contact details up to date helps ensure you receive any important notices. You can find out how to update your details here.
What happens if my membership is suspended or terminated?
If your membership is suspended or terminated, you may lose access to your Flybuys benefits and any accumulated points. The specific impacts depend on the circumstances of the suspension or termination and will be outlined in the email sent to you.
What should I do if I believe a suspension or termination notice is a mistake?
If you believe a notice was sent in error, you can reply to the email or reach out to our Member Care Team via the Flybuys Help Centre.
How can I avoid issues with my membership under the updated Terms and Conditions?
You can help keep your membership active by:
- Treating all Flybuys and Partner staff respectfully.
- Ensuring all information you provide is accurate, truthful and up to date.
- Using the Flybuys program only as intended.
- Following the Flybuys T&Cs.
Are any other Terms and Conditions changing?
No, the changes on 31 March 2026 will only amend clause 5.4 of the T&Cs.
What is the updated wording of clause 5.4?
From 31 March 2026, clause 5.4 will read as follows.
5.4. In addition to the right to terminate in 3.6.2, we may suspend or terminate your Flybuys membership as outlined below:
5.4.1. Flybuys may immediately suspend or terminate your Flybuys membership on written notice by email using the most recent contact details where:
- You engage in conduct that is abusive, offensive, threatening, harassing, intimidating, disrespectful, or otherwise creates a hostile environment for any of our or our Participants' staff;
- Flybuys has a reasonable suspicion of fraudulent activity in connection with your account;
- Flybuys has a reasonable suspicion you have breached clause 2.6 of these Terms and Conditions; or
- you materially fail to comply with any other clause of these Terms and Conditions and the breach cannot be remedied or, if the breach can be remedied and you do not remedy it within 14 days’ of Flybuys providing written notice to you.
5.4.2. Flybuys will provide you with a written warning by email using the most recent contact details, where you:
- deliberately provide misleading information or make any misrepresentation to us or to any Participant in connection with Flybuys; or
- abuse or misuse the Flybuys program or any benefits provided to you as a member of the program.
Flybuys may suspend or terminate your Flybuys membership on written notice by email using the most recent contact details, where you continue to engage in conduct that breaches clause 5.4.2 following receipt of a written warning.
